Thomas F. Howland, 94, of Framingham, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Framingham, son of the late Melborn and Eunice (Barrows) Howland, he was the husband of Adelle M. (Homer) Howland, who died in March of 2001. He was a longtime resident of Framingham and served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. A longtime and active member of the Masons, he was a member of the Alpha Lodge A.F. & A.M., was Past High Priest of the Concord Chapter and Past Commander of the Natick Commandery. In addition, he was a past Commander of the Natick VFW. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes for a hobby. He is survived by three sons, Thomas Howland Jr., Robert Howland and his wife, Gail, and Ronald Howland and his wife, Elaine; three daughters, Patricia Travis and her husband, Robert, , Catherine Marquell and her husband, Robert,, and Alice Bartlett and her husband, Donald, 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Barbara A. Antonio.
