On October 6, 1946, Dorothy married Donald Alexander in St. Francis, KS. After living in Washington County for a few years, the Alexander family moved to Brush in 1949. Dorothy worked as a clerk for the J.C. Penney Company for 33 years.
Dorothy served on the Brush City Council for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Anyone who knew Dorothy knew how important her family was to her. She spent much of her time, after raising her four boys, helping to care for many of her grandchildren, as well. Many of her family members consider her to be the most caring, selfless woman any of them have ever known.
Survivors include her 3 sons, two of Brush, and another son of Hastings, NE; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Danny, 1 grandson, Mark, 1 daughter-in-law, Debra, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016, at 10:30 AM at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements. Heer Mortuary July 2016.
