Charles Francis Brewer was born May 5, 1944, to Charles Eugene Brewer and Ernestine Mae Alltizer Brewer in Alva, Okla.
He attended schools in Cherokee, Garber, and Blackwell, Oklahoma, and graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in Kansas in 1962 Later that year he joined the Army National Guard.
In 1963 he married Patricia Faith Carson, and they made their home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, where they had their three children: Chuck, Christa, and Clarke. Later in life they were reunited and remarried in 2009.
Mr. Brewer was active in community affairs and began his own company, Brewer Contracting. He became the city commissioner of Blackwell, Oklahoma, in 1983. In 1985 he relocated his company to Phoenix, Arizona.
He later moved to Strawberry, Arizona, where he retired in 2008. He spent his time traveling and enjoying his family and many friends.
Mr. Brewer passed away peacefully at his home in Strawberry early Thursday morning, March 22, 2012, at the age of 67, with his loving family at his side.
As a great friend he will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and as someone who never met a stranger. He was active in the Riff Raff Club and loved helping others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; children, Chuck and wife Jenean Brewer of Gilbert, Arizona; Christa and husband Perry Cook of Altus, Oklahoma; and Clarke and wife Kisha Brewer of El Mirage, Arizona; grandchildren Alex, Madison, and Macinzee Cook; Carson, Carter, and Carly Brewer; great-grandchild Zachary Bryson Cook. He is also survived by his sister Linda and her husband Gene Sillers and their children, Cliff and David Sillers; and Aunt Betty and Victor Sample. Also surviving Mr. Brewer are his stepchildren, Tracy, Gayle, Adam, Shane, and Will.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zach Cook, his mother and father, and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 27, at Strawberry Chapel in the Pines, Strawberry, Arizona. A celebration of his life will be held at the Black Bear immediately following the memorial service.
