MANSFIELD: Katherine J. Berry passed away Monday evening, the 4th of July, 2016 in Mansfield Memorial Homes. She was 90.

She was born February 2, 1926 to parents Benjamin H. & Hattie L. (Moyers) Brady in Gassaway, West Virginia. She was graduated from Lucas High School with the class of 1944 as the valedictorian.

On June 12, 1948 she married Wayne R. Berry and they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 2012. They are now together again.

Katherine worked as a secretary at Farmers Savings & Trust in Mansfield from 1944-1954 and later worked as the manager of customer inquiry at Bank One in Mansfield where she worked for over 12 years until retiring in 1991. In spare time she helped run the family farm.

Katie was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Woodbury where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years and served as a former secretary of the Lutheran Church Women. She also served as church treasurer for more than 7 years.

Katherine will be remembered for her hospitality. She had a friendly personality and never met a stranger. She enjoyed getting her hair done each week and always kept a lovely garden. But above all, she cherished spending time with her grandsons and spoiling them.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law David Berry and Mark & Barb Berry all of rural Bellville; grandsons Richard Wayne Berry, Benjamin & Melody Berry, and Markie Berry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Roland Brady and Alice M. Brady.

The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring her life will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. John’s Lutheran Church of North Woodbury (6808 State Route 314). Pastor Patrick N. Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery near Johnsville.
