Lois C. Smith, age 76, of Kenosha passed away on November 24, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 21, 1933 in Brainerd, MN to James E. and Alice (Bridgeman) Dowling. Lois married William R. Smith on April 11, 1953 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. Lois was very proud of and embraced her Irish heritage throughout her life. She worked for many years as an office manager for Winthrop Harbor Dental Center. During her retirement she spent her time delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering at the Westosha Daybreak Center.

She was preceded in death by, her husband, William R.; her parents; two brothers; and six sisters.

Lois is survived by, her six children, Janet (David) Wente, Joan (David) Knapp,
William G. (Lisa Schroeder) Smith all of Kenosha Jill (Michael) Seebruch of New Berlin, Jean (Michael) Turner and Julee Smith both of Kenosha; 14 grandchildren, Alex, Adam, and Aaron Wente, Jessica (Daniel) Knapp-Lorge and Erik Knapp, William J., Jeremy and Pyper Smith, Kaitlyn and Bradley Seebruch, Dane, Liam, and Rebecca Turner and Evan Myers; one great grandson, David Anthony Lorge her sister, Jeanne (Roy Rodriguez) Dowling of San Francisco, CA
her brother, James T. (Renee) Dowling of Wyoming, MN a special lifelong friend, Nancy Samuelson of Brainerd, MN as well as many special nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kenosha. Fr. Stephen Forrest will officiate with burial in St. James Cemetery.
