EVA LEE BOHON SLAVIN CARTER, age 88 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, and a resident of Cortland Acres, Thomas, WV, departed this life Monday morning, July 4, 2016 at Cortland Acres.

She had been in declining health.

She was born Friday, August 26, 1927 at St. George, WV, a daughter of the late George Burton and Nellie Gay Gower Bohon.

She was twice married, first to Jessie Boone Slavin, who preceded her in death during April of 1968, and on February 22, 1975, she was married to Donald Edward Carter, who preceded her in death September 14, 2002.

Surviving are one son, Ronald Lynn Slavin and wife Suzanne of Seabrook, TX; one daughter, Pamela Sue Slavin Harper and husband Richard of Parsons, WV; four sisters, Wanda Jean Booth and husband Edwin, Clara "Louetta" Sponaugle and husband Bud, Nellie "Ruth" Carr and husband Roger, all of Parsons and Linda Sue Bates and husband Larry of Hambleton; eight grandchildren, Lisa Slavin Moore, Wyatt Lee Slavin, Jeremy Slavin, Jesse "JJ" Slavin, Matt Dalton, Kim Dalton Peevy, Heather Harper and Sarah Harper Hicks; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are three brothers, Glen Burton Bohon, Arley Otis Bohon and George "Clarence" Bohon, and four sisters, Idella Virginia Bohon, Ester Joann Bohon, Peggy Ann Bohon Wright and Norma Elene Bava; one great grandson, Jarrett Blaine Davis.

She attended the Mt. Olivet one room school on Location Road and was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1945.

She was a waitress at the former Hinebaugh's restaurant and several restaurants in the Washington, DC area.

She was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons, where she served as past secretary and was a devoted and active member of the church.

She was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Women's and the Win One.

She was a member of the Tucker County Senior Center, where she was past Secretary and of the Hendricks Ruritan Club.

She was a volunteer at Cortland Acres. Eva loved to travel.

She was known for her outgoing personality and smile.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.

Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 AM.

The Reverend Phil Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
