Cynthia "Cindy" Dawson Ray passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Casey House Hospice Care.

Born on October 20, 1937 in Germantown, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Viers Dawson and Virginia Mays Dawson. She was the wife of Robert E. Ray and recently celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 1, 2016.

Cindy was lifelong resident of Germantown, MD. She graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1955. She was a lifetime member of the Montgomery County Fair. She was a member of Washington Grove United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Damascus American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 171 and supporter of the Damascus American Legion Post 171. Prior to retirement, she was the Senior Administrative Aide to the Dean of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education Division at the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College. She was a devoted Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals fan. She loved spending time with children and grandchildren and was a very proud "Nannie." Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Cynthia Lynn Zebroski (Steven) of Mt. Airy, MD, and son, Stephen Dawson Ray (Doris Lynn) of Millsboro, DE, grandchildren, Daniel Zebroski, Kristin King(Gordon), Michael Zebroski, Jeffery Walters, Jr. (Jessica), Nicole Walters, great-grandchildren, Ayriana Drummond, Cora and Samuel Walters, sister, Bille Viers Krone (William) and nephew Shannon Clatchey (Beth). She was predeceased by nephew Sean D. Clatchey. The family will receive friends at the Washington Grove United Methodist Church, 303 Chestnut Street, Washington Grove, MD on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2 -5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, MD with a reception to follow at the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington Grove United Methodist Church, 303 Chestnut Rd.
