Leon C. Dennis, 79, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his residence following several years of declining health.
Mr. Dennis was born in Davidson County, June 1, 1936, a son of the late Clyde Washington Dennis and Thelma Kellis Dennis. He was an Air Force veteran and retired from Stroupe Mirror Co. Leon was a member of Fairgrove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Dennis; a daughter, Sarah Stewart and husband Caleb; three sons, Lynn Dennis and fiancé Lateffa, Vincent Kennedy and wife Serena and Terry Kennedy and fiancé Kendra; two sisters, Hilda Owen and Rosemary Williamson and husband Barry; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Leon's life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Fairgrove United Methodist Church by Rev. Allan Van Meter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC or to Fairgrove United Methodist Church, 138 Fairgrove Church Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360.
