Mrs. Lois Smith Cournoyer, 94, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 7th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Brett Golson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lois was born April 8, 1922, in Mt. Olive, MS. She and her husband lived many years in Jackson, before returning to Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph R. Cournoyer; her parents, Nannie and Ennis Wayne Smith; a sister, Emma Gipson; and a brother, L. H. Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Michael W. (Terri) Cournoyer, of Louisville, and Ronald J. (Eve) Cournoyer of Florence, MS; a sister, Maudine Nolen of Louisville, a brother, Jerome Smith of Jackson; 3 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cournoyer, Don Smith, Casey Smith, John Nolen, Ashley Vaughn, and Jerry McCullough.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or the Alzheimer's Foundation (alzfdn.org).
