Obituary:
Mrs. Laura Jane Briggs of the Elizabethtown Masonic Home died on Saturday, May 9, 1953 in the Masonic Hospital in Elizabethtown. She had been in failing health for the past three years. She was born on Aug. 2, 1859, in Orbisonia, a daughter of Richard C. and Martha Jane (Rutter) Templeton. She was united in marriage to William A. Briggs in October 1882. He preceded her in death in 1926. She is survived by two children, Edward Briggs of Seward and Miss Gertrude Briggs of Tyrone. The deceased was the last surviving member of her family. She had been a member of the Orbisonia Methodist Church since 1883 and was also a member of the order of Eastern Star Chapter 280 in Mount Union. Funeral sevices will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Ott funeral home with the Rev. Howard Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Tuesday evening until time of services. Memorial services will be held by the Eastern Star Chapter 280 of Mount Union at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
