Wilfred was born in Williamstown to Moses and Exilda Beauchamp Noel, and lived the last 55 years of his life in Adams. He was a loom fixer in the Berkshire-Hathaway mill, but retired at age 58 to assist his sons in auto mechanic work at Noel, Inc. in North Adams and Mel's Service Station in Adams. He was a member of Notre Dame church and former member of the Elks, Eagles and Forester lodges.
Wilfred Noel drowned in Crooked Pond, Plainfield, MA, after a boating accident.
He was survived by four sons, Leon, Melvin, Walter, and Archie; two daughters, Mrs. Corrinn Menard of Adams and Mrs. Dora Johnson of North Adams; four sisters, Mrs. Ora Orell of Williamstown, Mrs. Annie Martin of Greenfield, Mrs. Hattie Pinsonneault of Joliet, Quebec,Canada, and Mrs. Delia Lewis of Paterson, NJ. He also had 18 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. His wife, Delia Beaudin Noel, preceded him in death.
