WORCESTER Oscar F. "Babe" Lajeunesse, 92, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, October 31st in the Memorial Hospital.

Oscar's first wife of 50 years, Mildred J. (Martin) Lajeunesse passed away in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Rita M. (Pultorak) Lajeunesse; two sons, Martin L. Lajeunesse and his wife Sharon of Denver, Francis W. Lajeunesse and his wife Barbara of Campton, N.H.; a brother, William L. Lajeunesse of Marlboro; a sister, Shirley R. Fournier of Oxford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Paul R. and Norman V. Lajeunesse predeceased him.

Oscar was a World War II, U.S. Army Air Corps P51 Mustang fighter pilot who flew over 50 combat missions, bailing out of his aircraft on D-Day over enemy territory. He then eluded the German army by hiding with the French underground three months before being liberated by the Canadian Army. He then remained in the Air Force Reserve as a Pilot retiring as a Major in 1965 with over 22 years of service. He was a Veteran of WW II, Korea and Vietnam.

Oscar worked for the City of Worcester as a fire Fighter, 28 years, stationed at Webster Square Station's Engine 5, before retiring in 1970.

He was a founding member, and Eucharistic minister of St. Charles Borromeo Church; a present member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Oscar was a member of the International brotherhood of Fire Fighter, Union local 1009 and the Air Force Retired Officers Association of Massachusetts. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting and woodworking.

Oscar's funeral with full Military honors will be held Saturday, November 3rd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, November 2nd in the funeral home.
