The Census in 1784 for Ware Parish, Gloucester Co., VA = John Robins, 4 persons, 1 dwelling with 4 outbuildings. Records showed that land was purchased in Orange Co., Virginia in 1760. The family relocated from Orange Co., VA to Surry Co., (now Wilkes Co.) NC in about 1775. Land records for Mulberry Creek, Wilkes Co., NC in 1777 indicate that he owned 2 plantations. The home place contained about 396 acres with the adjoining smaller plantation of about 140 acres. It was located in Capt. Herndon’s District.

According to the 1782 records of Wilkes Co., NC, “Mulberry Creek & Reddies River Township” were in Capt. Judd’s District & showed an increase in the size of John Robins’ plantations. They had increased to 936 acres.

According to the 1787 Census of Wilkes Co., NC, John Robins had increased his land to 936 acres. The land holdings of John Robins & his two sons (Major John Robins, Jr. & Captain Thomas Robins) totaled over 1,907 acres.
