Information gleaned from the records from the Archdoicese by Ralph McBride, author of "A Family Makes Its Mark-The LeFlores of Mississippi".

At the time of Jean's death, Mobile was part of Spanish Territory, West Florida. Jean and his second wife Marie were buried in the old Campo Santo (Spanish Cemetery), used until 1813. Burials were moved to the Church Street Graveyard in 1819. The historic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was built on part of the site of Campo Santo.

First record of John Baptiste LeFleau/LeFlau in the Americas was in the baptismal record dated Jan 9, 1735 where he is listed as the godfather.

Jean and Marie married sometime in 1753, Jean's first wife having died Aug 11, 1752.
