Mary Buckman 1764; captain of the Minute Men and Militia; at the battle of Lexington; wounded in Lincoln; at Cambridge June 17, 1775; his company was ordered to Charlestown Neck, but too late to engage in the Battle [of Bunker Hill]; elsewhere in Revolutionary War; lived near Pierce's Bridge, where his cellar is still to be seen [1905]; later built house and kept tavern in East village on farm still owned by his descendants.
