Karen Louise Rydz Watts, age 50 of Fairfield, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Connecticut Hospice Branford after a courageous fight to the end with ovarian cancer. Born in Bridgeport to Henry and Louise Olson Rydz, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident. Karen was a lover of all animals, children, holidays and all life celebrations. She had a highly developed green thumb, was a dedicated Yankee fan especially Thurman Munson and Jorge Posada, and she voiced her opinion in all situations. Karen was strong in her faith and was a long time Sunday school teacher at Salem Lutheran Church, and also a volunteer for CancerCare.

She is survived by her husband, she was a dedicated and thoughtful mother to one son, and three daughters. She is also survived by her father, Henry P Rydz of Shelton; a brother, Gary H, Rydz of Seymour; a sister, Deborah S Finney of Shelton; nieces, nephew, great-niece, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church, 3160 Park Ave., Bridgeport with the Rev Marjo Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7pm in The Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave Bridgeport on the Fairfield line. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare of CT, 535 Connecticut Ave,., Norwalk, CT.
