James Novak Sr., 91, of Rt. 1, Maribel, who had been residing with his
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Novak, the past four years,
died Monday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been
a patient since June 14.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home,
Kellnersville, and at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown.
The Rev. James Geenan will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross
Cemetery, Mishicot.
Mr. Novak was born Aug. 19, 1874, in Bohemia and came to the Melnik area
when nine years old with his parents. He married Rose Robinson in 1899 at
Sheboygan where they lived three years, then moved to Oconto, farmed at
Mishicot from 1920 until 1948 when they moved to Manitowoc after retiring.
Mrs. Novak died in 1960.
Surviving are seven sons, James Jr., Anton and John of Manitowoc, Alvin
of Mishicot, Joseph and Edward of Rt. 1, Maribel, and Chester of Rt. 2,
Manitowoc; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Lillian) Hoffman of Kaukauna, Mrs.
Ervin (Katherine) Wilda of Manitowoc, Mrs. Anton (Emma) Krystofeck of Lena
and Mrs. Orville (Julia) Flentje and Mrs. Orville (Esther) Krejcarek of
Mishicot; 53 grandchildren, 108 great grandchildren and seven great great
grandchildren. A daughter, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in
death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday where at 8 p.m.
the Rosary will be recited.
