Steven Roger Hale of 691 Roxboro Lake Road, Leasburg, North Carolina passed over from this life on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington, N.C. after a long battle with cancer. He was 62 years old. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Leasburg, N.C.; a daughter, Dawn Hamill (Michael), of Chesapeake, V.A.; grandchildren, Aliana, Kailey, Alexis, and Anthony Hamill; a sister, Sandra Hale Wylie (Thomas) of Howell, M.I.; brothers, Brian Hale (Teresa) of Jackson, M.I. and Claude Hale (Cathy) of Fowlerville, M.I.; an uncle, Ronald Hale of Farmington, M.I. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Marilyn Hale and a brother, Jeffrey Hale.

Steven was born in February 28, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and attended Pinckney High School in Pinckney, Michigan. Upon graduation, he enlisted to the United States Navy where he served our country for 21 years .He married Patricia Cruz in 1978 and after retiring from the Navy in 1993, he worked in the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office as a Sheriff’s Deputy for 3 years and then drove over-the-road semitrucks for Schneider and Heartland Express companies. He married Marie Stull in 2003 and, after deciding he wanted more home time, he worked locally at Triangle Grading & Paving, Inc. in Burlington, N.C. and then T. R. Vernell Asphalt Co. in Raleigh, N.C. until he was medically retired in 2013.

Steve was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren to the moon and
back. He enjoyed hiking, camping, boating and watching movies and travel shows. His favorite pastimes were looking at the stars with his telescopes, and taking pictures with his camera and visiting with
his grandchildren. He was a member of the Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society and attended Lea Bethel Baptist Church of Prospect Hill, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at Lea Bethel Baptist Church, 1820 Ridgeville Road, Prospect Hill, N.C. 27314 on July 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Calvin Sacra. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 at the church. Contributions may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, North Carolina 27215.
