David "Mark" Sikes, 65, of Suffield, beloved husband of Patricia (DeNicola) White-Sikes, died peacefully on Thursday, (May 26, 2011), at his home. He was born on August 2, 1945, in Springfield, MA, son of the late Richard L. and Evelyn (Reed) Sikes. A lifelong resident of Suffield, Mark was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Suffield High School with the Class of 1963 and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Physics from AIC and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from UCONN. He also went on to study English Literature at Columbia University. Mark worked as a survey engineer in the Guilford, CT area for many years. He enjoyed reading, astronomy and scientific research literature. Mark also had a green thumb and was a market gardener. A kind caring, loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend he will be greatly missed. Along with his wife of over 23 years, Patricia, he leaves his daughter, Christina L. White-Sikes of Suffield, his sister, Abbie Perlsweig and her husband Paul of West Hartford and many cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at the Second Baptist Church, 100 North Main St., Suffield. Burial will follow in West Suffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Suffield Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 642, Suffield, CT 06078.
