Henry was a son of Anton & Catherine Braun. He immigrated to Canada in 1857 and settled in Berlin, Ontario.

There in Berlin, he got married to Wilhelmina Bertha Hardel on July 16, 1863. Marriage Microfilm #1030066.

They raised a family of 9 children in Waterloo County.
