Shirley Fay Benderman Binkley passed away quietly at home in Franklin, Tennessee on July 1, 2016. Her devoted husband of almost 61 years, William "Bill" T. Binkley was with her.
Youngest child of Carl Robert Benderman and Maude Lee Henson Benderman of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Shirley was born August 15, 1937 in Maury County.
She graduated from Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. She married Bill Binkley in Columbia, TN in Sept 1955 and moved with him to Twenty-Nine Palms, CA where he was stationed in the Navy. They lived in Tennessee and South Carolina after his military service, making their permanent home in Franklin, TN in 1968. Shirley attended the University of South Carolina while living in Columbia, SC. Shirley retired from Murray Ohio Mfg. Co. in Brentwood, TN after 26 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother James Benderman, and sisters Margaret and Marie Benderman.
Survived by her husband William T. Binkley, brother Ray Benderman, daughter Betty Lovelace (Mike), son Taylor Binkley (Debra), son Forrest Binkley, grandchildren Bo Swindle, Ben Binkley, and Sarah Binkley, great-grandchildren Annabelle Swindle and Carter Swindle, and her nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always made certain her family knew they were loved and were first in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. till Funeral Service begins at 11:45 in the chapel at Carr & Erwin with burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
