Born son to Jacob and Genevieve “Jenny” Gorzinski on July 7, 1938 in Bay City. He resided in the Bay/Midland area all his life.

Stan enjoyed a career at Dow Corning and Dow Chemical as a Toxicologist, and retired from Dow Chemical. Following his retirement, he worked for several years at Field Neurosciences Institute where he focused on lead poison prevention projects.

Stan also served his country with time in the Navy from 1958 until 1961. Stan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1966, from Saginaw Valley’s first graduating class. He also received his Masters of Science in 1972 from Central Michigan University.

Stan enjoyed being at home feeding and watching the birds, squirrels, rabbits and deer in his backyard. He also enjoyed attending his Catholic church, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and talking about his cherished 1971 C10 Chevy pickup truck that he restored and recently entrusted to the care of grandson, Ronnie Pope.

On August 24, 1963 he married the former Judy J. Sczepanski, and she survives him. Also surviving are one son, Kevin (Sue) Gorzinski, Auburn; two daughters, Deanna (Ron) Pope, Auburn and Lisa (Eric) Dunham, Ann Arbor; one daughter-in-law, Julie Gorzinski, Sanford; Nine grandchildren, Ronnie Pope, Jessica Pope, Samantha Pope, Bryan Stein, Michael Gorzinski, Jake Gorzinski, Nick Gorzinski, Evan Dunham and Easton Dunham; two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Pope and McKenna Pope. He was anticipating the arrival of the next great-granddaughter in November 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Genevieve “Jenny” Gorzinski and his son, James P. Gorzinski. Stan will be missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in-law and friend. He and his stories will be remembered forever, and he will always be in our prayers. Dad, we love and miss you!

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 7, 2016 at Prince of Peace Parish (St. Valentine Campus). Rev. Fr. Nick Caffaro will officiate. Rite of Military Committal will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery (Fisherville) accorded by the Bay Area Veterans Council.
