A Mass of Christian Burial for Emmadine Marie Kady Soileau will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Emmadine was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings, at the age of 84. She was an Associate of Marianites of Holy Cross, Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister, and a Cathecism teacher for many years. She loved gardening and had a collection of over 200 different species of flowers in her yard. She would take care of decorating the altar for Mass. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She organized religion classes to be taught in her own home for children unable to attend regular classes so that many could receive sacraments. She was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Soileau of Broussard; and Thomas Soileau of Lafayette; three daughters, Rita Reinach and husband, David of Baton Rouge; Eva Council and husband, Roy of Palmetto; Geraldine Soileau of Opelousas; two sisters, Eula Faul of Church Point; and Theresa Fontenot of Ville Platte; godchild, Betty Ann Brasseux Young of Chatagnier; 8 grandchildren, Raelene Williams and husband, Jason of Montz; Rachel Saborio and husband, Joseph of Baton Rouge; Shane Council of Carencro; Brady Council and wife, Courtney of Opelousas; Jeremi Council of Port Barre; Daris Council and wife, Claire of Port Barre; Charlene Leger and husband, Tony of Opelousas; and Eliska Johnson and husband, Darrin of Opelousas; 21 great-grandchildren, Grant Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Gracelyn Williams, Kirsten Saborio, Lauren Council, Anna Council, Lindsay Council, Kolby Council, Audrey Council, Kati Council, Savannah Council, Abbigail Chautin, Raphael Chautin, Annie Josephine Leger, Jayden Leday, Dominic Leday, Mariah Leday, Joseph Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and Gabriel Allen Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Soileau; her parents, Noah Kady and Cecile Comeau Kady; her sister, Lydia Brasseux; and an infant child, Francis Dean Soileau.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, July 4, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Tuesday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
