Dinah Comsett/Compsett/Comset was born circa 1754 the daughter of Massachuset Indian Sarah Comsett.

On 1 January 1755, William Southworth told Abiezer Turner and William's wife Rachel Southworth told Abigail (Nichols) Newell [the wife of James Newell, son of Scituate's earliest interracial marriage between former slave James Newell and Mary White] that the three illegitimate children of Sarah Comsett were fathered by Capt. Henry Merritt of Scituate. Merritt then sued the Southworths for slander, which he won.

Dinah first married 3 January 1771, Isaachar Cato. She published intentions with Asher Freeman on 25 January 1777 and again on 9 April 1780.
