Carl Weldon "Red" Ekdahl Carl Weldon "Red" Ekdahl, age 88, died of cancer on Monday, April 8, 2013 at home in Stonewall, Texas.

Carl was born July 27, 1924 in Manor, Texas to Carl Oscar Ekdahl and Ellen Anderson Ekdahl. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Geneva Ekdahl Barnett and Hazel Ekdahl Studdard. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Beardslee Ekdahl, neices Kelly Armstrong. Janis DeSouchet,and nephews Charles and Brian Barnett. Also step-sons Michael Wheeless and Liz, Mark Wheeless, step-daughter Marilyn Wheeless Jean, grandchildren Mason, Brad, Lindsay and Maddie, and great grandson Kam'ron.

Carl served in the Army in WWII in the European Theatre from May 1943 to November, 1945. He served in the Austin fire department from December 1, 1949 until March 16, 1985 at which time he retired and moved to Stonewall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Hospice in Fredericksburg, TX or to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department or A memorial service will be held at a later date.
