Mary Kay Brinkman, age 91, formerly of 2439 Oak, Quincy, died on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10:45 pm in Good Samaritan Home.

She was born on April 17, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Albert J. and Catherine Schulte Wavering. On July 7, 1945, she married Robert G. Brinkman in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1996.

She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1943. She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Francis. She was also a member of the Elks Auxillary, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and the Women’s Democratic Club. Mrs. Brinkman retired from Carson, Pirie and Scott company in 1980, and from 1980 until 1991 she was employeed in George Schrage’s office where she served as a deputy Clerk in the County Clerk’s Department of voting records.

Mary Kay’s faith was very important in her life. She loved spending time with her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards and shopping.

Mary Kay is survived by three children, Greg (Nancy) Brinkman of Quincy, Mike (Vicky) Brinkman of Holiday, Fl, Rita (Bing) Lammers, of Quincy; five grandchildren, Brian (Jeanette) Brinkman of Liberty, IL, Cory Brinkman of St. Cloud, FL, Jennifer (Jeremy) Dyer of Quincy, James (Leah) Goodwin of Kansas City, MO, and Jason (Vanessa) Goodwin of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Albert (Marilyn) Wavering of VA; a sister, Regina (Don) Blickhan of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert (Mary Kay) Wavering, and Bill (Carlene) Wavering, and a sister, Rita (Lenny) Thomas.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Home for the loving care they provided.

Service: 9:30 am prayers on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Father Ducanh Pham O.F.M. officiating.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
