Rachel R. Dawson was given the gift of life on January 10, 1916, in Corpus Christi, Texas when she was born to William Berwick Rachal and Lula Shaw Rachal. She was one of the last known survivors of the 1919 Storm. She was a lucky woman to have been given 100 years of life to create memories with those she loved. Rachel taught dance lessons in Falfurrias in her younger years and then became a housewife, homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and her ranch. She was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was reunited with her parents; her husband, James Henry Dawson; her toddler son, Frankie Dawson; two brothers, Hal Rachal and D.C. Rachal and two sisters, Bea McGregor and Margaret McNabb. She leaves behind to carry on her legacy her four sons, Frank Rachal (Maggie) Dawson of Riviera, Texas, William Bryan Dawson of Agua Dulce, Texas, John Timothy Dawson of Falfurrias and James Richard “Dick” (Susan) Dawson of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park. Contributions may be made in her memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Falfurrias, Texas.
