June Heestand Wolfe, 92, of Timbercrest Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born June 21, 1918 in Chattam, Ohio, to Perry A. and Mildred (Kilmer) Heestand. June married Claude Wolfe on September 7, 1941 in Ashland, Ohio; he died July 4, 1985. She was a 1936 graduate of Smithville High School in Smithville, Ohio, and received her bachelor's degree from Manchester College in 1940. She taught 6th grade at Southwood Elementary, taught English at Manchester High School, and Spanish at Manchester College. She was a member of Roann Church of the Brethren. June enjoyed reading, visiting with family and friends, and attending all types of sporting activities. June and Claude Wolfe spent their life loving and serving the Lord through their commitments to Manchester College and Timbercrest, their mission work and full-time ministry, and their involvement in the Peace Corps/Heifer Project International. She is survived by her children, Claudia (Lowell) Rosen of Urbana, Indiana, Michael (Barbara) Wolfe of Mesa, Arizona and Kathy (James) Philpott of Honolulu, Hawaii; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Ross of Pendleton, Indiana, Christian (Andrea) Rosen and Aaron (Amy) Rosen, both of Urbana, Ryan (Kelly) Rosen of Wabash, Jeremy (Brooks) Wolfe of Gilbert, Arizona, Zachary (Amanda) Wolfe of Mesa, Arizona, Ashley (Angus) Scott of Chandler, Arizona, Brittany Jones of Mesa, Chloe (Siolo) Tauaefa of Corinth, Texas, Preston (Robin) Philpott of Moneta, Virginia, and Keri (Tim) Shepherd of Honolulu; 30 great grandchildren; and her sister, Helen McCartney of Ashland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Wilbur Heestand, and 3 sisters, Norma Heestand, Dean Ernst, and Wilma Griner. Memorial services will be held at Timbercrest Assembly Room on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Brad Eckerly and Dr. David Wolf officiating. Friends may call 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Timbercrest Chapel. Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service of North Manchester is in charge of arrangements. Preferred memorials are the Claude Wolfe Memorial Fund at Manchester College, Timbercrest Retirement Community, or Heifer Project International.
