Terry Wray Decker, 77, of Ammon, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away June 30, 2016, at his home, after a lengthy illness. Terry was born on September 4, 1938, in Junction City, Kansas, to Ralph G. and Nellie A. (nee) King Decker.

When Terry was a young boy, the family moved to Southern California. Playing in the desert with his younger brother and nephews were some of his fondest memories. His love of adventure and travel started as a young adult, when he traveled across the country several times by himself. But his greatest adventure started when he met his future wife Helene at Harris’s. Helene and her best friend, Carolyn, were walking into Harris’s Department Store in Redlands, California, when Terry, his brother and two nephews were walking out. Carolyn introduced Helene to the four of them, and Helene later told Carolyn she was going to marry Terry. One year later, on June 20, 1959, true to her word, they were married! Their first child Terresa was born; one year later came Lorrena; and then the baby of the family, their son, Carson was born.

Terry moved his family from southern CA to Darby, MT where he fell in love with the country and lifestyle. The family eventually settled in Salmon where he worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator and finished raising their children. He and Helene moved again and ended up in Ammon, ID where he worked driving trucks until his retirement. He loved meeting people and spending time with his family and he was always excited to see what was around the next bend in the road.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helene Price Decker, of Ammon, ID; his two daughters: Terresa Kane, of Idaho Falls, ID, Lorrena Decker, of Salmon, ID; his son, Carson Decker, of Ammon, ID; his grandchildren: Maci (Glen) Hansen, Levi (Brittany) Kane, Adrian Jarshaw, Anna Jarshaw, and Aaron Jarshaw; his great grandchildren: Tanner, Preston, Garret, Brydon, Indie, Everett, Emilee and Oaklie; his brother, Tommy (Joni) Decker; and many numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ralph G. and Nellie A (nee) King Decker, his sister, Evelyn “Susie” Ryan, brother Ralph Decker Jr., his sister, Marvelene “Mickie” Gehle, his sister Vivian “Faye” Smith.

His love of his faith and family gave him strength and this was apparent towards the end of his life. The family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice for their wonderful car of Terry.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Ammon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation under Terry’s name to a hospice of your choice.
