A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Rhew worked as a machinist with Asheville Machine Shop, and was a former member of Swannanoa Freewill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Joseph Paris and Lillian Emma Miller Rhew, and the husband of the late Nola Mae Allen Rhew, who passed away March 26, 2016. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Rhew, Jr.; son-in-law, Robert Camby; great-grandson, Jonathan Razer; sister, Ann Garrison; and brothers: J.P., Howard, Donald and Arnold “Gabe” Rhew.
Surviving are his daughters: Debi Ledford and husband Mike of Asheville, Sheila Camby of Hendersonville, and Teresa Moss and husband Steven of Asheville; son, Michael Rhew and wife Brigitte of Collierville, TN; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Stevens; brothers: Frank Rhew and Ken Rhew; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
