Robert W. Weimer Sr., 57, of Demerest Street died Tuesday at a local nursing home after a brief illness.

He was born here, a son of Mervin and Lucille Luce Weimer, attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School.

Mr. Weimer was a veteran of the Air Force.

For 35 years, he was a bus driver for the Metro system.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portland, the Masons and the Shrine, where he was a member of the cycle corps. He also was a stock car enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Carol Cole Weimer; two sons, Robert W. and Scott P., both of Portland; two daughters, Kimberly A. Walker of Falmouth and Mary-Lynn E. Wiley of Portland; four brothers, William E. of California, Thelman G. of New York, George E. of Gorham and Mervin C. of South Portland; six grandsons; and a granddaughter.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert C. Frederich and the Rev. Dr. Alfred J. Fletcher will officiate. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
