Carl E. Bird Jr., age 74, of Greeneville died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at his home.
He was a member of Bradburn Hill UMC. Mr. Bird retired from TRW/ Parker Hannifin and from the Tennessee National Guard after 27 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Greene County Honor Guard and American Legion Post 64. Mr. Bird was also a member of the Greeneville Masonic Lodge #3 F & AM, Scottish Rite, and Kerbela Shriners.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years: Mildred "Millie" Bird, one daughter: Aundrea and Michael Rader; four grandchildren: Sydne and Griffin Rader, TJ Rhea, and Joehannah Davis; two great grandchildren: Carla and Trevor Rhea; two sisters: Carolyn Warren and Sharon Bird; three brothers: Jim and Elizabeth Bird, Donald Bird, and Dennis and Karen Bird; three sisters-in-law: Arlene Deathrage, Ruth McCamey, Phyllis Stowers; one brother-in-law: Kenneth Loftis; several nieces and nephews and cousins; special friends: Donald and Doris Jenkins, Brian Click, Jim Holt, Curtis Wilhoit, Glen Malone, Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. John Boys, Jimmy Feezel, J.C. Jones, Bill Moncier, and Sandy Farley.
Mr. Bird is preceded in death by his daughter: Carla Bird Rhea; his parents: Carl Bird Sr. and Beulah Brown Bird; and one brother: Clinton Bird.
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Rev. Gail Jenkins will be officiating. Greeneville Masonic Lodge #3 F & AM will be performing a Masonic Service and the American Legion and the Greene County Honor Guard will be performing a Poppy Service. Interment will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct the military graveside. Honorary pallbearers will include: Donald Jenkins, Jim Holt, Curtis Wilhoit, Glen Malone, Dr. Dharmen Patel, and Dr. John Boys.
The Bird family will receive friends from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
