Lois Maxine Berlin Shepherd, 88, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014. She was born on January 16, 1926 to David Andrew and Agnes Allen Berlin in Huntsville, Utah.

Lois grew up in Huntsville, Utah. She fulfilled her lifetime dream of becoming a registered nurse in 1947 and was employed in the nursery at the Dee Hospital and later at the McKay Dee Hospital. She loved her fellow nursing students and has kept a close association with many throughout the years. While in nursing school she met J. Farrell Shepherd, even though she was intent on schooling and other things, he convinced her that they were a perfect match. They were married on December 2, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. After their marriage they moved to Ogden, where they have resided for over 65 years. Lois and Farrell celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary last December.

Lois was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she has given a lifetime of dedicated service. She served in ward and stake leadership roles in both the Relief Society and Primary, but was always content to be with the Cub Scouts or the “Singing Mothers”. She served two full-time missions to Scotland and Ogden, Utah. She also served in the Ogden Temple and the Family History Center for many years.

Lois was an active member of the Weber State Women’s Association. She attended hundreds of college and athletic events in support of Weber State University. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Lois is survived by her sister, Lorna Fay McIntyre; her children, Bruce (Sydnee) Shepherd, Shauna (Julian) Martinez, Hal (Kjerstin) Shepherd, Kelly (Stacey) Shepherd, and Doug (Jennifer) Shepherd, 22 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Farrell Shepherd; her parents, David and Agnes Berlin; her step-mother, Myra Berlin; brothers and sisters, Jean, Clarence, Claretta, Allen David, Barbara, Ken, Klee, and Dee Andrew.

Her viewing and funeral services were held jointly with her husband, Farrell’s funeral services, on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. They were very close in life and died just seven days apart. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
