Gregory Clay Rogers, 64, passed away peacefully in his home Friday morning June 24, 2016 with wife Brenda by his side.

Greg was born in Van Nuys, CA on July 13, 1951 to Harold Clay and Delores Straw Rogers.

The Rogers' family moved to Yerington, NV when Greg was 12 and he lived there until he went off to college where we graduated with a BA from the University of Nevada.

Greg was raised as a Master Mason on March 23, 1981 in Tehama Lodge # 3, Sacramento, CA. He was an active member of the Ben Ali Clown's Unit in 1982 and that's when "Bojangles" was created. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.

Greg served on the Washoe County Sheriffs Department. He worked for the Eagle Thrifty Store in Reno, NV. where he was hired by Tom Raley to run the first Raley's warehouse in Sacramento as distribution manager.

He retired in January 2015 from Raley's and Ozark trucking after 47 years of service.

Greg was a true sports fan, he loved his Rams, Dodgers and the Sacramento Kings. His interest included theater and all types of music. He loved to cook and was known for fabulous dishes which included many that were smoked in his Traeger Smoker. He also loved to play hours and hours of poker, keno and Angry Bird.

He will be missed by all for his wit and sense of humor.

Greg was preceded in death by his father and mother.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (31 years of marriage), brother Jeffrey "Buddy" Rogers, daughter Lori Wallace (Scott) from Orangevale, CA, son Edgar Rogers (Jennifer) from Citrus Heights, CA., son Gary Rogers in Silverdale, CA, and stepson Warren Pannett (Susan) from Clovis, CA. Greg had six grandchildren, Anthony Rogers, Devin Wallace, Makala Rogers, Alexis Wallace, Thea Rogers and Warren Pannett III.

A celebration of Greg's life will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Ben Ali Shrine Center, 3262 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in his name.
