Carl L. Holt, 81, died at 9:48 p.m. June 4, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center.He was born July 16, 1926, in Putnam County to Raymond and Velma Vandermark Holt, who preceded him in death. On June 27, 1952, he married Gladys M. Eley, who survives.Mr. Holt retired in 1994 as head bus mechanic and driver coordinator from Bath schools after 33 years. He had owned and operated a Shell service station for more that 20 years. He also worked with his daughter in her business, Holt Concessions, from 1989 to 2004. He was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and the Hix & Chix Square Dance Club. He was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.He was an avid sports fan of racing, basketball, baseball and football, which were some of his favorites. He was a die-hard season ticket holder for all Bath High School football and basketball games. He spent a great deal of time square dancing and going on cruises with his wife. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed cookouts. He loved his children, great-grandchildren and grand dogs.Survivors also include two children, LuAnn (Neal) Lause and Larry (Sue) Holt, both of Lima; two grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Holt and Audrey (Jeremy) Clark; four great-grandchildren, James and Jager Holt and Faith and Rachel Clark; a sister, Erma Myer, of New Knoxville; a brother, Wayne (Dorothy) Holt, of Lima; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Kidd, of Columbus Grove.He was preceded in death by three siblings, Mary Kidd and Don and Virgil Holt; two sisters-in-law, Willa Holt and Bertha Holt; and a brother-in-law, Dale Myer.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Pastor Derrick Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
