ALEDO - G. Arthur Johnson, 76, of 410 W. Main St., Aledo, died at 3:35 this morning in Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Services will be at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the Reiser Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Claude Moreland, pastor of the Aledo First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 tomorrow evening. Memorials may be made to the coronary care unit of the Mercer County Hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 27, 1900, in Cordova, a son of Albert and Augusta Pierce Johnson. He moved with his parents to near Bettendorf, attended rural Scott County schools and Brown's Business College.

On Sept. 15, 1926, he married Nellie Sproston in Aledo. The couple farmed northeast of Aledo, retiring in 1966 when they moved to Aledo.

He was of Lutheran Faith and a former member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are the widow; two sons, Lloyd and Laverne, both of rural Aledo; a daughter, Mrs. Syl McKinney of rural Aledo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Johnson of Davenport, and a brother, Ernest Johnson of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and two grandchildren.
