Mary Linn (Farnum) Lemmel, a long-time resident of Dresher, PA, died peacefully on Monday June 27, 2016 at the Artman Lutheran Home, Ambler, PA. She was the adored and adoring wife of the late Jacques Lemmel and the mother of Adele Griffith, Deborah Wilson (Brian), Jacques Lemmel, Jr. (Linda) and the late Ruthann Lemmel. She was a loving grandmother to Matthew, Rebecca, and Lindsey Lemmel and Timothy and Jonathan Wilson. She is also survived by her brother Philip T. Farnum of Middle Township, NJ.

Linn was born in Summit, NJ in 1931, the elder of two children. She graduated with honors with a degree in History from Seton Hill University in 1952 before marrying three months later, devoting her life ("with pride", she would say) to her husband, her children and her grandchildren.

Linn was a huge fan of and a scholar of the arts. Whether it was classical music, opera or ballet, if she wasn't watching it live in Center City, it was on the TV or on her radio.

As an avid gardener and a past member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, her lush home gardens were enjoyed each year by neighbors and friends. She always enjoyed every visit and any new exhibit at Longwood Gardens. Linn was a voracious reader of almost any topic and always would have a crossword puzzle nearby. She was a devout Catholic and a 50 year congregant of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen.

Linn was a 25 year cancer survivor and amongst her visits to Abington Hospital, made a point of remembering the name of every doctor or nurse who took care of her, recognizing them and catching up on their personal life stories during return visits (sometimes years after the initial encounter), quickly becoming a favorite of the staff. She made a similar impact on the staff at Artman, who took loving care of her in her final days.

Linn will be fondly remembered by neighbors, friends, family and the Saint Alphonsus community.

Friends and relatives are invited to St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Dr., Maple Glen, PA after 9:30 AM on Friday, July 1, 2016. Funeral mass will be at 10:30. Interment at Whitemarsh Memorial Park
