Ruby O. Veazie, 90, of School Street died Saturday at her home after a long illness.

She was born in West Deven, Prince Edward Island, a daughter of Herbert and Euphemia Campbell Acorn, and attended schools there.

She came to the Portland area at age 16, and had lived in Gorham for the past two years.

Prior to moving to Gorham, she lived at her cottage at Wards Cove on Sebago Lake, where she enjoyed the outdoors, especially working on the grounds around her home.

Mrs. Veazie worked as a certified nurse's aide at Maine Medical Center for 27 years, retiring in 1973.

She was a supporter of the Rev. Dr. Billy Graham's ministry.

A daughter, Shirley R. Brown, died in 1994.

Surviving are a daughter, Loraine J. McIsaac of Yarmouth; a sister, Ruth Wallace of Prince Edward Island; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
