His obituary from the Troy Messenger, November 14, 1944:

Hon. James Allen Davison, 100, Pike County's only Confederate Veteran, died today (Tuesday) at 12:30 a.m., after a short illness at his home in Troy, Route 1. Mr. Davison celebrated his birthday Sunday, November 5, at his home near Goshen, where about 200 relatives and friends visited during the day. He was born November 6, but had the celebration on the Sunday nearest the 6th, in order that relatives and friends from a distance might attend.

Mr. Davison is survived by four children, Mrs. Mattie J. Folmar, Mrs. Maggie Folmar, Mrs. Nancy Alice Carter of Troy, Route 1, and J.M. Davison, of Troy. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

He was a devout member of the Elam Primitive Baptist Church and had been a deacon in the church for many years.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m., from the Elam Church with Elder J.W. McLeod and Rev. J.J. Richards officiating. The body will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with McGehee Funeral Home directing.
