HOFMEISTER, Max Austin, 91, of Safety Harbor, Florida, recently residing in Tallahassee passed away on June 24, 2016. He was born on July 14, 1924 to Harold and Mable Hofmeister in Antwerp, Ohio. He was the oldest of four brothers, Paul, Ray and Dean. Max graduated from Bowling Green State University, LSU and the University of South Florida. Member of the ATO fraternity. He met Rosemarie Irene Tomka at Bowling Green and married on Aug. 27, 1949. They remained married for over 60 years until she died on May 30, 2013. Max then moved to Tallahassee. Max enjoyed tennis, golf and fishing. He was district director of the State of Florida Vocational Rehabilitation for many years and retired at the age of 55 and move to Safety Harbor, Florida. He is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Sissy) and Alan (Janet). He had 5 grandchildren, Austin Hofmeister, Sara Smith, John Lewis Hofmeister, Stefanie Hofmeister and Holly Hensarling. He also had 5 great-grandchildren, Laina, Andrew, Graham, Carsyn & Levi. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Max spent his life helping and loving others. Max was most often recognized by his good sense of humor and always enjoyable to have in a group. In memory of Max, he would ask you to care for your loved ones and be sure to have some fun in your life.
