Peggy L. Conger, 80, of Weatherford passed away Sunday evening, June 26, 2016, at a Plano hospital, after an extended illness. Memorial service: Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date. Memorial gathering: Noon until the time of the service, Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Fort Worth Collie Club, P.O. Box 16221, Fort Worth, 76162 where she was a founder and current president; or Collie Rescue at collie.rescueme.org/texas. Peggy was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Bonham. She was one of four children born to Everett Lloyd and Clara Grace McKelva. Peggy married Tommy Conger on March 3, 1951, and together had five daughters. Peggy was a registered nurse for most of her life. She avidly raised and showed Collies and was a 50-year member of the Collie Club of America and a licensed dog show judge for many breeds. Additionally, she collected dolls and enjoyed working with her flower garden and enjoyed birds. Peggy will be affectionately remembered as being a "mentor to many children" interested in Collies and showing dogs. Most of all, she cherished her family and will be remembered as being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Nila McGee; and by her siblings, Jean Buckley and Jim McKelva. Survivors: Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Tommy Conger of Weatherford; daughters, Sherry Pipkin of Colleyville, Julie Conger of Abilene, Donna Debusk of Fort Worth, Janet Massey of North Richland Hills; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jan Miller of Garland.
