Diah Tilden, son of Ithamar Tilden (1735-1822) & Lydia King (1738-1829 but her tombstone says 1822) both born Marshfield, Plymouth Co Mass, both died Williamstown, Orange Co Vt & both interred East Hill Cem., Williamstown, Orange Co., Vt. Diah married Irena Flint 1800 Orange Co., Vt.; their children (all born Williamstown, Orange Co. Vt) included: Philinda, Dora, John King, Lucy, Martin Flint, Chloe B(Burnet?), infant, Lydia King, & Turner T. Diah Tilden (recorded within the biography of son Martin F Tilden (whose name is ..."indissolubly associated with the growth of Custer Twp. as one of its active pioneer settlers...") in Portrait & Biog. Album of Will Co Ill: Chicago 1890 & in the History of Will Co Ill: Chicago 1878) was a native of Conn. & a farmer. Diah was a volunteer in the war of 1812. He was married to Irena Flint, also a native of Conn. in 1800 (Orange Co.) Vt and there resided...until the 1840's (see Orange Co Vt censuses 1800 through & including 1840)...until old age overtook them & then made their home with their children (1850 Schoolcraft, Mich & 1860 Reed, Will Co Ill censuses)....Diah died when near 84 years of age...& Irena when near 83 years of age, both buried in the family grave-yard in Custer Twp (now Custer Twp Cem). Diah's parents are interred East Hill Cem., Williamstown, Orange Co., Vt; Irena's parents (Deacon Samuel Flint (1746-1827) and Lucy Martin Flint (1747-1827), both born Windham Co Conn., Samuel in Hampton and Lucy in Windham, both died in Randolph, Orange Co., Vt.) are interred Randolph Center Cem., Randolph, Orange Co., Vt. (Randolph and Williamstown are about 19 miles apart).
