Ms. Donnell Brooks, age 58, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday June 25, 2016 at her residence. A native of Atmore, she was born to David and Amelia Brooks, Sr. She was a 1976 graduate of Escambia County High School and graduated from Jefferson Davis Community College with a Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked at Vanity Fair for over twenty years and had worked at William F. Green Veteran’s Home in Bay Minette for many years.

Although she never had children of her own she reared her niece, LaKeitsha Brooks of Detroit, Mich. and nephews, Derrick Brooks and Juderrian Carter both of Atmore as her own.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Brooks, Sr.; brothers, Sam Grant, Charles Grant, Jerry Grant, Cliff Brooks, and David Brooks, Jr. and sisters, Shirley Brooks and Dorothy Brooks; nephew, Charles Grant, Jr. and niece, Shantelle Grant.

Ms. Brooks is survived by her mother, Amelia Brooks of Atmore; one sister, Carolyn Brooks of Detroit; three brothers, Jeffrey Brooks and Robert (Ruby Nell) White, all of Atmore and Williard (Lois) Brooks of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Apostolic Church, Atmore with Apostle Floyd Nelson, eulogist and Bishop Robert Grissett, Pastor.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Public walk through viewing will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 from 2 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
