Joseph was a self-employed electrician for 28 years. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend. Joseph enjoyed fishing, working on his cars and listening to music.
A Catholic, he was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Vigil. Joseph is survived by his wife, Geraldine Vigil of the family home, sons, Vidal Vigil, Alejandro Vigil and Vicente Vigil all of Chacon, NM, daughter, Melinda Vigil and her boyfriend, Jordon Vasquez of Sapello, NM, grandchildren, Iris, Richard, Paul and Jordynn, mother, Ruth Trujillo of Chacon, NM, sister, Gerardine Vigil-Bartel and her husband, Joel of Pecos, NM, brothers, Anthony Vigil and his girlfriend, Jory of Jemez, Manuel Vigil Jr. and his wife, Brenda of El Carmen, John Paul Vigil and his wife, Patricia of Las Vegas, NM, mother-in-law, Connie Baca, father-in-law, Eddie Gutierrez, both of Las Vegas, NM, sisters-in-law, Lucy Valdez of Taos, NM, Karen Herrera and her husband, Ramon of Las Vegas, NM, Edwina Garcia and her husband, Billy of Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora with Father Paul Grala, SOLT as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Chacon Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as Casket Bearers, Vidal Vigil, Alejandro Vigil, Francisco Hurtado, Edwin Herrera, Anthony Vigil and Ramon Herrera.
