A funeral service celebrating the life of Lisa A. Burkett, age 48, of Buckeye Lake, was held March 8 at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Paul Martindale officiating.
Lisa passed away March 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born June 24, 1967 in Newark, Ohio to the late Lowell J. and Hilde (Küespert) Waldrop.
She loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball or playing in the middle school band. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and finding treasures at yard sales. One her favorite things to do was going to the beach to enjoy the sun and the ocean. She truly loved going for motorcycle rides with her husband, Manuel. She loved getting the family together for cookouts and attending church was very important to her.
Lisa was the store manager at Check Smart for several years, had worked at Licking Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department and was a network liaison for Med Ben Health Benefits for thirteen years.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Manuel R. Burkett, Jr., whom she married February 5, 1983; two daughters, Hilda Daniels of Newark and Tabitha Johnson of Newark; a son, Jamie Burkett of Newark; three brothers, Karl Waldrop, Curt Waldrop and Hans Waldrop; a sister, Julie “Cookie” Smith; and eleven grandchildren, Madison Rine, Taylor Daniels, Xavier Daniels, Tyona Daniels, Isabella Daniels, Gavin Burkett, Jaylen Burkett, Kaden Burkett, Jazmyn Johnson, Brionna Johnson and Lisa Ann-Renee Johnson.
