He married Bertha C. Lebo of Philadelphia on May 17, 1939. While in seminary, he had summer pastorates in Clifton, Wytopitlock, and Westfield, all in Maine, and was also a student pastorate in Memorial Baptist Church, Huntingdon Valley, PA. His full-time pastorates include Morrill Baptist Church, Morrill, Maine, Chestnut St. Baptist Church, Camden, Maine, and Tabernacle Baptist Church, Schenectady 1960 to 1981, from which he retired. He served as chaplain at the Baptist Retirement Center (now Baptist Health) in Scotia, and several interim pastorates. He was a 35-year member of the Board of Directors of the Upstate Home for Children (now Springbrook) in Oneonta, NY. He had served on the Board of Managers of the American Baptist Church of New York State, several convention committees, and CABA offices. He was also the chaplain for Gordon C. Light at Light's Funeral Home for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Bion P. Dorr and a sister, Ruby McLauchlan. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bertha (Betty) Dorr; two sons, ...; a brother, Leon G. Dorr of Brunswick, Maine; two grandchildren... and by a great-granddaughter... and several nieces and nephews.
