Funeral services for Mrs. Hugh Horn, 71, mother of Mrs. William R. Hunter, 4719 Wesley, will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the James-Coker-Peters Chapel.

Officiating will be Rev. Bill Morgan Smith, pastor of Kavanaugh Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Hayter, Byron Hayter, Billy Hayter, James Ellis, Bobby Faulkner, W.E. Treadway Jr., Reagan Treadway and Logan Treadway.

Mrs. Horn died Saturday at 1:30 a.m. in a Greenville hospital following a brief illness.

COUNTY NATIVE

A native of Hunt County, Mrs. Horn was a member of one of the prominent pioneer families who had contributed to the agricultural, business and educational life of the community. The Bethel Church, one of the well known landmarks of the county, had the support of her father, the late Abe. P. Hayter, and his wife, Martha Angela Boatright (sic) Hayter.

Mrs. Horn was born Sept. 9, 1887, and was educated in the Greenville schools and Grayson College at Whiteright (sic). She was married to Hugh Horn, who was elected to the office of county commissioner for several terms and who later operated a produce business in Greenville until his retirement. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1950.

Known as a homemaker and mother, Mrs. Horn chose the home life as a career and was active in the Kavanaugh Methodist Church. She was a member of a family of seven children.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William R. Hunter, Greenville, and Mrs. John F. Hertweck, Port Arthur; one grandson, Randy Hunter, Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Velma Huffman, 4717 Wesley, Greenville; one brother, Abe P. Hayter, Route 5, Greenville, and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
