Carol (Cunningham) Snyder Fowler, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the House at Midland Care, surrounded by family.

Carol was born on December 11, 1934, the daughter of Wayne and Leona Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Cunningham.

Carol was a lifelong music educator starting at the age of 16 teaching piano to beginning students. Carol grew up in Russell, KS., and graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor and Master s in Music Education. She married Brock Snyder. They had three daughters, Lori, Holli and Staci. She later married Eddie Fowler, a high school friend. Carol taught music in the Seaman School District, was an adjunct voice teacher at Washburn University, a private voice teacher and a church choir director for many years. She sang in the Topeka Symphony Chorus, Shawnee Choral Society and Faith Lutheran Church Choir. She was a soprano soloist with the Topeka Symphony, Topeka Symphony Chorus, Washburn University Choir. In later years, she enjoyed singing with the Heartland Harmony singers. She was a member of the Kansas Federation of Music Clubs, Civic Music Club, Minerva, TOSCA, Chapter DF of PEO and Faith Lutheran Church. Family, friends and students were a very important part of Carol s life. She enjoyed following the success of her former students.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie, daughters Lori (Aaron) Locke, Riverside, Mo.; Holli (Jerry Wetzel) Snyder, Eagle, Colo.; Staci Lawrence (Brad Yohe), Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Damon Locke (Ashley Locke), Jordan Locke, Connor Locke, Evan Wetzel, Eliza Wetzel, Helena Lawrence, stepsons, Kim Fowler, Dirk Fowler, Eric Fowler, step-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Stephanie, Gabriel, Tabitha, Michael and Seth Fowler, and 8 great-step-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Carol will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS. An inurnment service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Carol Fowler Music Memorial may be given to Faith Lutheran Church. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
