A son of the late Alpha Smail and Joycie Blystone Smail of Kittanning, he was born July 20, 1927, in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County.
Mr. Smail was a member of the Whitesburg Presbyterian Church.
An employee of the Maintenance Department of the Armstrong School District, he was also a deputy game warden and taxidermist.
Surviving are his widow, Joyce Baker Smail; his mother; two brothers, Allen, Kittanning RD 6, and Floyd, Kittanning RD 1; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Cleo) Wright, Ford City RD 1.
he was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Russell.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Clarence P. Clark Funeral Home, Elderton, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. Philip Ramstad officiating.
