Services held Monday for Mrs. Cornelia Hofman

Funeral services for Mrs. Cornelia Hofman were held Monday, July 14 from Christian Reformed Church of Sanborn with Gilbert Kamps officiating. Mrs. Hofman passed away at Prairie View Retirement Home of Sanbom July 10 at the age of 84 years.

Casket bearers were Ben Damstra, Ronald Damstra, Donald Damstra, Dennis Bosma, Larry Hofman and John Meernik. A men's quartet composed of Elmer Klaver, Henry Koldenhoven, Orville Kooiman and Charles Andringa sang "Ye the Pearly Gates Will Open" and "Beyond the -Sunset". Miss Donna Hofman was organist. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs Ben Hofman, 84, fell at her home Sunday night and fractured her hip. She was taken to the Sheldon hospital where she underwent surgery Monday afternoon.

MRS. CORNELIA HOFMAN

Cornelia Bonnes, daughter of John and Engelena Bonnes, was born in Seney, Iowa on March 28, 1891. She lived her youth, attended school and grew to young womanhood in this vicinity.

She was united in marriage to Ben Hofman of Orange City, Iowa on March 12, 1909 at Orange City. After their marriage they farmed near Strubble, Ia. for two years and in 1911 they moved to a farm near Sanborn, Ia. where they lived until retiring and moving into the town of Sanborn. She lived here until entering the Prairie View Retirement Home of Sanborn on July 1, 1975.

She passed away at the Prairie View Retirement Home on July 10,1975 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 12 days.

She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Bert J. (Agnes) Solsma of Sheldon, Iowa, Mrs. William (Engelena) Damstra of Sheldon, Iowa, Mrs. Dick (Cornelia) Solsma of Sanborn, Iowa, Mrs. John (Gertrude) Hengeveld of Sanborn, Iowa, Mrs. Gilbert (Bertha) Meernik of Sanborn, Iowa and Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Bosma of Sheldon, Iowa; two sons, John B. and Dick S. of Sanborn, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and two brothers, John Bonnes of Lansing, Iowa and Cornie Bonnes of Sanborn, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on August 29, 1963, five sisters, one brother, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was the last remaining Charter Member of the Christian Reformed Church of Sanborn, Iowa and a member of the Loyal Workers of the church.
